Friday 20th June 2014
Thomas Davis Corrinshego 2-9 St. Michael’s Newtownhamilton 0-8
On glorious Friday evening in the St.Colmans sports complex our senior team continued the push for promotion with a fantastic 7 point victory over a physical and strong St. Michael’s outfit. The game started in lightening speed with Newtown opening their account on 6minutes with a point then doubled two minutes later. Thomas Davis responded in style with a J. McIlory point after a good penetrating run from D. Lenaghan. By the 17min Newtown extended their lead. Thomas Davis had the opportunity to reduce the deficit on 21minutes when D. Jennings was fouled but K. Kimmins resultant free went agonisingly wide. Indeed 18 year old Jennings runs had now began to create semi-chaos in the Newtown defence. After 25 minutes of play St. Michael’s added another point to make it 0-4 to 0-1, but this is a changed Thomas Davis GFC senior team before we would have witnessed a collapse or even seen heads dropping but our senior team responded in positive fashion with a outstanding goal from D. Jennings after good interchangeable play from J. McIlroy and D. Cinnamond. Showing unbeatable composure L.Quinn added a wonder point from a free and D. Jennings scored an pressure point to leave the half time fully dissevered score 1-3 to 0-4 at half time. Our boys met the halftime whistle with determination and none more so than half back Mark McAteer who covered every inch of the pitch.
Newtown had been playing with 13 men behind the play and the level of composure shown by our young warriors holding onto possession and not wasting the play was a joy to watch. On the resumption our boys continued to outwork the opposition with the industrious C. Trainor scoring a nice point only for our opponents to add 0-2. On the 44minute A. McCourt scored 0-1 after good work by substitute P. Finnegan. Newtown once again replied with a point. However Jordan King added to the score sheet on 49 mins and this in turn was cancelled out by a well worked Newtown score. A battling performance by J. Dinsmore set up P. Finnegan for a handy point. As the game reached its concluding stages C. Trainor and P. Finnegan chipped in with two crucial points. A. McCourt killed the game off with a goal to leave the final score 2-9 to 0-8. This took a huge effort and as a performance ranks up there with some of the most vibrant football this club has witness. This was a whole team/panel effort and besides doing the double over our opponents it eases the pressure of demotion and makes promotion to intermediate football a realistic possibility. It was unbelievable sight after the game with club stalwarts Liam Mullan and Frank Harvey delighted after the game. Special thanks to umpire Gerard Trainor reporting for duty each week. Onwards now to next Friday away to Cullyhanna.

Thomas Davis v St Josephs 7-4 V. 4-5
This U12 game was definitely a game of two halves.
A strong showing in the first half saw our young men get off to a flyer with Junior Marron bursting the net in the first couple of minutes, followed by a Ronan Casey point and a fine point by forward Jamie Gaskin. St Joseph's responded with a goal and two points of their own before the home side put their stamp on the game with a goal that was finally scored by Sean Dowdall but was set up ...by the busy Adam Coughlan, who eventually got himself on the scoreboard with a sweet strike that hit the back of the net 2 minutes before the end of the first half. The first half concluded with a first half point from midfielder Ronan Casey and a flurry of saves from man of the match Bradley Murray.
St Joseph's began the second half like a steam train and boxed the home side into their 22 for long periods, scoring 3 goals in succession, leaving them ahead and if it wasn't for the tenacious play of full back Ethan Casey it may have been more. However it was the busy forward line of Junior Marron and Adam Coughlan on his u12 debut who both again put the ball in the net. A point from the away side and one from Jamie Gaskin left the last two minutes very nervous but it was late goals from Sean Dowdall and a well worked goal from Jarlath Jennings who put the result beyond doubt and gave Thomas Davis their latest victory.
Well done All! A big thanks to Adrian Mc Court for doing ref. Player of the week is Bradley murray

Under 14 Football / Peil Faoi 14
A big well done goes to our young U14 charges who went down fighting against a strong Clann Eireann team in their first league game since the league split.
An outstanding performance from our U14 Thomas Davis Captain Brendan McLoughlin who scored four points, two in each half from open play and hit the post countless times. His work ethic tonight was matched by team mates Jamie Gaskin (1-1) and Jonjoe Cranney, who scored 1-4
Fantastic also to see so many of our new young Primary 6&7 St Malachy's players fielding for the first time, with Christopher O'Hare and Adam Coughlan standing out in particular.

Under 14 Girls / Peil na mBan Faoi 14
The U14 girls took on Tir Na Nog at home. In a great game of end to end football the girls put in a great performance. The first half started poorly for the girls conceding 1-2 without reply until we scored a well worked goal which seemed to kick the girls into life and then both teams traded scores up until half time. The game continued like this with exciting end to end football. The sizeable crowd of parents were treated to some great determination and no lack of skill from both sides.
Tir Na Nog eventually ran out winners but this game could have went either way. Special mention must go to Karolina Kolasa, Dearbhla Kearns, Siobhan McKinley, Aoife Millar and Laura Lesniak who all had superb games and finally Lauren Travers who won herself player of the week. Well done girls!
