Senior Football / Peil Sinsearach

Thomas Davis GAC celebrated its first Senior Home Game yesterday 26 April 2015 playing against Lisummon GAC.

There was a record crowd in attendance and this added great atmosphere for the Game. The first half seen Corrinshego play with the wind.  They managed to take points well and Gerry O’Reilly secured a lead at the end of the first half with a super goal.   Second Half was much harder playing against the wind and Lisummon used this to their advantage.  Although this did not deter the boys, they worked hard as a team and got their win.  End score Thomas Davis 1-14, Lisummon 1-07.

Thomas Davis 04-12 Middletown 2-11

The 2015 minor season launched on a Monday evening near the Monaghan border in Middletown GAC. This young group of men were prepared fully and after weeks of preseason training they were ready battle on what can only be classed as a glorious sunny evening. The Middeltown and Thomas Davis clubs have had numerous battles down through the years and this game was no different. Thomas Davis in 2015 has a fantastic group of players and began the game in stunning fashion.

Midfielder Keynois Crozier rose for the throw in and plucked the ball from air then delivered the ball to stand in full forward Lee Courtney who turned, shot and placed the ball into the bottom of the net. The perfect start continued when free taking specialist Caolan Marron placed two dead balls over the bar with ease. Indeed Thomas Davis were to extend their lead to 02-04 before Middletown got their first point of play. With Middletown controlling play until half time with scores exchanging between both sides and at half time Thomas Davis led 2-08 to 1-04.

Stern words at half time by the management team asked for the same effort but more focus and concentration. As the excellent referee throw the ball in Thomas Davis once again won possession played a long ball resulting in another Declan Loye point. However Middletown kept themselves in the game with free kicks albeit assisted by lazy tackling from the Thomas Davis team. With defence now under pressure some heroic blocking in full back by captain Brendaín McCrory weather storm and the defence started to come out on top. Shane Keenan and Arran Cinnamond got to grips with their men and started to break forward leading to Declan Loye rattling the net after good work from Johnathan Tumilty down the left. With all good teams we just done enough to keep in front and when Middletown came within 4 points we again struck the killer blow through a Lee Courtney individual wonder goal. When the final whistle blew a fully dissevered victory was recorded and a good start to the league. The entire team done their job and now these brave club men move onto their next challenge.

Our Minor’s play at home this evening.  Throw in at 6.45pm.  All players are asked to be at the pitch for 6pm changed for the game.

Good Luck to Players and Management.
