Historic Weekend Visit by London Hurlers

Craobh Rua Camlocha were hosts to the London GAA Féile Hurling team and the historic first ever visit proved to be an enjoyable and memorable weekend for all involved. The visitors which included young hurlers, mentors and supporters were welcomed to the area last Friday afternoon by Mayor of Newry & Mourne Cllr Dáire Hughes and Craobh Rua Camlocha personnel. An entertaining game played at the pitch in Highstreet near Bessbrook, between London & Craobh Rua, saw the home side narrowly defeat the skilled young hurlers from London. Both Clubs participated in the memorable Féile Parade which took place in Armagh on that Friday night. Craobh Rua and their guests travelled to Inniskeen County Monaghan on Saturday where they played teams from the home County, Galway, Leitrim and Wexford. Both teams put up credible performances and went out at the quarter final stage of the All Ireland Féile Shield Competition.
Crossmaglen Rangers hosted the visitors to a visit and all involved enjoyed this aspect of their Féile weekend. On Saturday night in Doyles Camloch there was a night of Ceol & Craic for all.
The visiting London team was managed by Roddy Walsh and the accompanying secretary was Noreen O Neill.A panel of twenty young hurlers travelled to Craobh Rua and spent the weekend with designated host families whilst another thirty parents and supporters who accompanied the team also stayed in the locality.
