Despite the loss of two of their players to red cards and a concerted comeback attempt midway through the second half, Crossmaglen Rangers are still the kings of Ulster after they beat Kilcoo by 3:9 to 1:9 in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship Final in front of an 8000 strong crowd at a wet and cold Athletic Grounds in Armagh.
Kilcoo got off to the worst possible start conceding a penalty taken by Oisin McConville in the opening minutes of the game followed by a goal from Aaron Kernan shortly after. The first half really did belong to Cross' with them heading in at the half time break nine points ahead 2:6 to 0:3. A comeback by Kilcoo resulted in three points without reply and a goal by Anthony Devlin followed by another Kilcoo point from a free to bring them within three points of Crossmaglen but unfortunately for Kilcoo that was as good as it got.
Crossmaglen's third goal came from Kyle Brennan a few minutes from the end after a short pass from Oisin McConville found the substitute in front of the Kilcoo goalkeeper.
Crossmaglen's Michael McNamee and Jamie Clarke were red carded, the latter for a second yellow card.
A messy affair at times with a full scale brawl at one stage but despite a short period of pressure from Kilcoo, Crossmaglen always looked safe and now advance to the Club Semi Final in 2013.
In the Intermediate Club Championship Final Cookstown were just too strong for Warrenpoint after a period of extra time. Full time score was Warrenpoint 1:11 Cookstown 3:13
