Newry hosted league leaders Raphoe on Saturday, this was maybe not the best time to play the leaders on the back of two weak displays recently. However Newry totally blew Raphoe away in the first ten minutes dominating the play and having a number of chances to take the lead and it wasn’t long before the home side got in front with a well taken reverse stick shout from Colin McKnight. This seemed to wake Raphoe up and they started to get into the game after this, the game ebbed and flowed at great pace with neither side giving an inch with plenty of strong challenges going in from both sides. At half time the score stood at one nil. Newry again started well in the second half and it wasn’t long before Colin McKnight doubled his tally for the game and Newrys lead with a well worked short corner. The home side where now starting to dictate the play more and more but Raphoe still gave everything in every challenge which made good viewing for the spectators. The away side drew a super diving save from Newry keeper Nial Dinsmore mid way through the half which was destined for the bottom corner until the big man threw him self down to touch it around the post. John Taylor picked the ball up on the Raphoe 25 with 10 minutes left in the game and proceeding to drive into their circle before unleashing a venomous low drive to put the game out of the reach of the Donegal side. With this win Newry have got themselves back on the coat tails of Raphoe.

Friday nights home game was in doubt due to the foggy weather conditions but fortunately it lifted just in time for the push back. Newry took an early lead in the game with Lee Ervine continuing his recent goal scoring form picking up a rebound to slot home. Newry continued to press forward and won a few short corners but they could not convert their chances, 'garvey started to come back into the game and got their equaliser just before half time. Lisnagarvey started the better of the two teams in the second half and it took a fantastic save from a penalty stroke by Peter Elmore to keep the home side in the game. This gave Newry a wakeup call, and again Lee Ervine was on hand to slot home for Newry to make it 2-1. Ervine seemed unplayable and he soon got this third from a short corner to complete his hat-trick and give the home side a commanding lead. With ten minutes remaining, Robbie Taylor rounded two defenders and placed a shot hard and low past the 'garvey keeper to make the final score 4-1 to Newry who next week make the trek to Ballymena in their next league fixture.
