The club's sportive, held last May, was a huge success and saw 140 riders from across the island of Ireland tackle the Ring of Guillion, an area of outstanding natural beauty, and enjoy a few hours of fantastic cycling.

Presenting the cheque, Armagh Down CC Chairman, Benny Smyth said: “Not only was our inaugural sportive a great success but we were able to raise much-needed funds for Multiple Sclerosis Newry, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy."

Benny continued: "We hope that the money raised will make a big difference to those who rely on this local charity for help. We are currently welcoming applications from local charities for 2017 so please contact us if you would like to work with us."

Sheila Carragher Centre Manager, Multiple Sclerosis Newry, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy said: "We are an independent local charity, which has been providing advice, therapy and support to those suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for more than 25 years. We were delighted to have been Armagh Down CC’s chosen charity for their inaugural sportive. The club's most generous donation has enabled us to continue to provide our beneficial therapy and support to those suffering from MS."

Armagh Down CC will be welcoming new members to the club from 7pm on Wednesday, October 26th at the Mourne Country Hotel. All abilities are welcome to come along and speak to club members. Guest speakers will be in attendance to cover topics including bike maintenance, injury prevention and nutrition. For more information check out their Facebook at www.facebook.com/armaghdowncc
