Over 1000 young people are set to take to Jennings Park this weekend as part of an underage football festival in memory of 7 local people and to raise funds for Chest, Heart & Stroke.
This is the second year for the Desy Jennings Football Festival which will take place from tomorrow Thursday 30 May to Sunday 2 June 2024. It involves underage players aged from 6 to 12 yrs, with 6 different leagues, a total of 90 teams and over 1000 young people in total involved. Underage teams from all over Northern Ireland are competing in the tournament and it will be a celebration of sport and young people. In addition, 2 teams from Newcastle Upon Tyne are travelling to take part.
It’s a chance for young people to get experience in playing different teams as well as making new friends in a fun and healthy activity. It will also be a chance to raise awareness and vital funds for Chest, Heart and Stroke. NI Chest, Heart and Stroke will be on site on Thursday 30 May offering free Blood Pressure Checks to the Community.
