The new-look annual review of the GAA in Down hit the shelves of clubs and shops across the county during the weekend. The stylish hardback 2009 edition celebrates a year of activity in Down, as the GAA marked their milestone 250 anniversary. The Yearbook has been an important feature on the shelves across the county since 1981.
Among the many highlights in this year’s edition are:
- Kilcoo’s first senior championship success in 70 years.
- Down U-21 footballers retaining the Ulster title.
- Ladies footballers and Camogie team win national league titles.
- A world title for Saval handballer Lorraine Havern.
- Glasdrumman claim the RTE Celebrity Bainisteoir crown.
- 125 celebrations across the clubs and county.
- And much, much more, including some feature stories.
At Friday’s launch in Newry, editor and county PRO Diarmuid Cahill expressed the hope that everyone within the GAA in Down and beyond can “enjoy a worthy souvenir that once again celebrates the many successes and the GAA’s activity across the county”.
“We have made a special effort to produce a yearbook that is as attractive as any other GAA or sports-related production out there”.
The Down GAA Yearbook is on sale from clubs and many outlets at £10.
