Cavan Seniors completed the job started by their Minor team at Breffni Park in Cavan yesterday at the preliminary round of the Ulster Senior Football Championship when they beat Armagh by four points sending them on a mystery tour of Ireland via the back door, whether it will be magical or not remains to be seen.
In front of a crowd of over 12,000 Cavan took control of the game with the teams going in to half time Armagh 0:4 to Cavan 1:6.
A goal scored by Jamie Clarke could have so easily marked the game turning in Armagh's favour but the referee had apparently already awarded a free in and the goal was disallowed.
Ethan Rafferty's goal for Armagh ten minutes from time again had the potential of advancing a win, with the teams trailing by a solitary point but Cavan responded with four unanswered points two from Cavan's Martin Dunne who notched up a superb nine points and that was that.
