The 2013 Newry and Mourne Sports Personality Awards will be held on the 6th of March 2014 and it's time to get nominating a favourite club or individual.

Commenting on the awards Ciara Lowe, Disability Liaison and Sports Development Officer, (Sport & Community Unit) said “The Sports Development Committee and Newry and Mourne Council are delighted again to announce the critical commercial sponsorship from the Alfa Media Group and the Canal Court Hotel. This assistance has made this event one of the most prestigious in the Council calendar, it is now one of the premier sports awards in the North of Ireland”.
The Chairman of the Sports Development Committee Mr Hugh Murphy said “I am delighted to announce this year’s event. I feel it gives our sporting community a chance to celebrate itself and it’s achievements. There are so many dedicated people involved in bringing our area to the fore in the sporting world. Nominations do not necessarily need to be someone who is seen on a pitch each week, they can be someone who in your opinion works tirelessly in the background for the benefit of a club, team or sport. If you feel someone deserves recognition then nominate them on the form displayed from the categories listed below. Don’t miss your opportunity and get nominating!”
Award Categories include Junior Team, Junior Club, Junior Individual, Senior Team, Senior Personality (Individual), Gerry Bagnall Service to Sport, Primary Schools, Post Primary Schools, Athletes with learning disability, Disabled athletes and Jimmy Davis Soccer Award.
