Local club Greenfield Park FC are hoping to help raise awareness about the Eamonn Morgan Trust with the addition of it's logo on their jerseys
Newry Schoolteacher Eamon and his girlfriend Charlotte Sant died in an accident in Qatar in 2015.
The Eamonn Morgan Trust was set up in Eamonn's memory by his family and friends to highlight Eamonn's dedication as a teacher and coach to children, in particular children from under priveliged backgrounds and for his love and passion for sport. The trusts main focus is to support a street children's shelter in Zambia in partnership with the local charity Friends of Africa and to also assist local sports clubs that are in the heart of the community that Eamonn grew up in to help engage children in sport.
Greenfield Park FC will wear the Eamonn Morgan trust logo on their new strip this season.
Speaking about the decision Greenfield Park FC manager Anthony Harkin said “"Greenfield Park football club are honoured to be associated with the Eamonn Morgan Trust. Sport funding isn't exactly plentiful and the help that does exist isn't easy to access. The Trust is a very welcome organization for those involved in sport especially at grass roots level. It’s a cause that really does deserve support both with funds and to increase its growing presence in the community.”
