A quiet week for Newry AC after the fantastic performances in Glasgow the previous week.
Born2Run 5k & 10k, Gosford Forest Park
On Saturday, 2 athletes, Sarah Jane Beattie and Andrew Knapton competed in the Born2Run Trail event. The event was set through the beautiful trail paths of Gosford Forest Park.

Sarah Jane ran in the 5k race of which she strongly finished on podium as 3rd female, 24th overall out of a field of 216 in a time of 21:43.
Andrew had a competitive 10k run with some very strong club runners at the bustling start line. He came over the line in 13th place in a time of 40:12 out of a field of 435 runners.
Mountain Training
Newry AC continued their mountain training this week to build on their strength and endurance as well as renew their familiarity with the race routes.
The weather conditions had a cold edge this week with winter now showing her presence with snow at the summits.
The Senior Squad however still had time to stop for a breather with a team photo and build a few miniature snowmen!

IAAF NI International Cross Country Championships
Joanne McCauley travelled to the Billy Neill Playing Fields, Comber to run in the IAAF NI Cross Country Championships.
This event catered for all ages from Primary School up to the Masters Categories. This is an annual prestigious event with the International Men and Women races the main attraction. These races draw in top names which make it an impressive and motivational event for the local athletes and supporters to watch.
Joanne ran the Senior Open Race on a well planned course with ground conditions quite firm with only a few cut up areas finishing in 21:46 and 24th position.
