Campbellians appears to be a bogey team for Newry with Newry dominating most of the play but they continuingly fail to finish their chances and put the game to bed.
Newry again started the better of the two teams forcing a number of short corners early in the game, however it was Campbellians who drew first blood with a counter attack and scoring with their first shot of the game. Newry again pressed forward and got their equaliser through Kyle McCombe. The home side were under a lot of pressure but again another fast counter attack produced a goal to give them a two nil lead at half time. The second half started the same as the first with Newry having all the play and keeping Campbellians pressed into their own half but again the home side produced two quick fire goals from counter attacks to take a commanding 4-1 lead.
Newry fought back and substitute Scot Blakley got two goals in quick succession to bring his side right back into it, soon after Colin McKnight scored a short corner to bring Newry level and the remainder of the game was played out in the home sides half, but as was the story of Newry’s season they could not apply the finishing touches to the chances they were creating. This was Newry’s final game of the season with only the Anderson Cup competition now to play for.
