Our senior men had their first outing under new manager Aidan Farrell on Sunday afternoon and recorded a very impressive eight-point home win over Saul, 2 – 15 to 1 – 10.
The sides were level on two points each after fifteen minutes with Cormac Feely and Ryan Quinn getting the scores for the Shane’s before the same two players both got another point each to put their side two the good. A free brought Saul back to within one before the sides swapped points with David McCabe on target for the home side but points from Matthew Girvan and Paul O’Rourke extended the home side’s advantage to three. A late first-half point from Saul saw them trail by two at the break, 0 – 7 to 0 – 5.
An early second-half Saul point was quickly cancelled out by a Ryan Quinn effort before two points on the bounce had Saul back on level terms. A free apiece kept the sides level pegging but two quick-fire points from the home side put them back in front, Padraig Magee and David McCabe getting the scores. The Shane’s continued to dominate and further points from Padraig Magee and Matthew Girvan extended their lead to four but another pointed Saul free kept them well in touch. A brilliant flowing move from the home side ended with David McCabe firing the ball to the roof of the net to put the Shane’s firmly in control but Saul replied almost immediately with a three pointer of their own to keep themselves right in the game. However, this proved to be their final score of the contest as the Shane’s finished the game the stronger side and they scored a further 1 – 2 without reply with the goal coming from Neil Paul Lennon and a point each for Cormac Feely and David McCabe.
The lads continue training on Wednesday before another challenge game away to Ballymartin on Friday night.
Senior and Minor Girls
Our senior and minor girls have moved to outdoor training and would like to thank Emmett Murtagh and Michael Smith at EST28 for the fantastic work they have done with the players over the past three months of preseason training.
Minor Boys Training
Training for our minor boys continues on Monday night and all players eligible to play minor football this year are asked to meet at the club at 6.30pm.

U14½ Girls: Sunday morning: 10.30am – 11.30am at the field
U12½ Boys: Boxing training in Sacred Heart Boxing Club on Wednesday night: 700pm – 8.00pm and Saturday afternoon: 3.00pm – 4.00pm at the field
U12½ Girls: Wednesday night: 7.15pm – 8.15pm in Cloughreagh Community Centre
U10’s: Boxing training in Sacred Heart Boxing Club on Wednesday night: 700pm – 8.00pm and Saturday afternoon: 3.00pm – 4.00pm at the field

If anyone is willing to help out in a coaching, mentoring or supporting role with any of our underage teams please contact any of our committee members. We would greatly appreciate and welcome any help or assistance with any of our underage teams or any club activities.
Club Membership for 2019
The membership rates for 2019 have been set as follows:
Full Adult membership: £50.00Juvenile membership: (U8’s – Minors): £30.00Family Membership (2 Adults & Children U16): £100.00Students & OAP’s: £40.00Cairde Members: £25.00U6’s: £10.00
The club will be holding a number of registration events over the coming weeks to give everyone an opportunity to register to become a member of the club. All membership must be paid before 31st March 2019.
Physio Required
Th club is currently on the look-out for a physio for our senior men’s team. If anyone is interested in taking on the role or know of someone who may be interested please contact Brendy Osborne on 07543 806274.
Armagh GAA Club Draw
The very successful Armagh GAA Club draw is running again in 2019. The draw takes place over 4 months - March, April, May and June - with 16 prizes on offer each month. The first prize each month is a Renault Clio, right down to a 16th prize of £200.
Tickets are priced at £100 each with £80 from every ticket going directly to the club after we reach our minimum target of sales. They can be bought by paying the £100 up front or 4 monthly instalments of £25 per month.
Tickets can be purchased from any of our committee members and the more tickets we sell, the more money the club raises. We are encouraging all our club members, families and friends to purchase a ticket either individually or maybe as a group of 4 friends or family members clubbing together at £25 each.
It is brilliant opportunity to raise much needed funds for the club whilst also being in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes.
Anyone with any sold tickets is asked to bring them to the club on Monday night from 8.30pm onwards.
Kit Bags for Sale
The club have a number of kit bags for sale at a price of £15.00 each (usually £25.00 each). They can be purchased in the club on Monday from 8.30pm on a first come, first served basis.
Street Collection
The club would like thank everyone who contributed to our street collection in the village on Sunday and to everyone who helped organised it and helped out on the day.
Lotto
Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 4, 5, 25 & 28. There were no jackpot winners and 1 x lucky dip winner. The lotto jackpot is slowly, but surely creeping up again and now stands at £3,150.
Club Volunteers
The club is always on the lookout for new volunteers, whatever your skills. Maybe you’ve got time on your hands and fancy doing something different, maybe you’re new to the area and are looking to play a part in the community, perhaps your children or grandchildren are players at the club and you’d like to get involved. Whatever your reasons our doors are always open to new members and new ideas whether it be working with our underage teams, helping with fundraising, washing strips, cleaning, upkeep of the grounds, selling lotto, recruitment, club development, lining out the pitch, doing the gate and a host of other tasks. You can be part of Shane O’Neill’s in so many ways, and you can give as much or as little time as suits you – so why not come along a get involved.
Fundraising Night
The club is hosting a fundraising night on Saturday 2nd March for a couple of good friends of Shane O’Neill’s whose baby daughter is currently in hospital in England awaiting heart surgery. A waxing night, along with a host of other fun activities is planned for the night, and we are encouraging everyone to come along for a good night’s craic whilst raising some much-needed funds for a very worthwhile cause. It will definitely be a night not to be missed with music and great prizes to be won and you will even get the opportunity to inflict some pain on our senior boys as they will be getting waxed also.
Condolences
The club would like to offer its sympathies to the family of Ann Murphy who passed away recently. Ann was the sister of our late club member and good friend Marty McCone. May she rest in peace.
