Our senior men made it three wins from three on Sunday with a hard-fought victory over Eire Og on a score-line of 0 – 15 to 0 – 11.
Both sides swapped early frees with David McCabe on target for the Shanes before another McCabe free put the Shanes in front. The game remained scoreless for the next ten minutes before another Eire Og pointed free was quickly cancelled out by a fine point from the Shane’s captain Micheál Brady. Eire Og tied the game soon after but two quick-fire points from Ryan Quinn and David McCabe gave the Shanes a two-point advantage approaching the break but another pointed free from Eire Og saw them trail by just the minimum at half-time, 0 – 5 to 0 – 4.
Eire Og got themselves level again in the opening minutes of the second period but Mark McCabe replied almost immediately for the home side. The teams then swapped points from play with Paul O’Rourke firing over for the Shanes but another point from a placed ball saw Eire Og tie the contest again. Two points from Connaire Mackin and Ryan Quinn edged the Shanes in front before great work from Marc Feehan set up David McCabe to slot the ball over the bar and give his side a three-point advantage. A great point from Connaire Mackin stretched the Shane’s advantage to four but Eire Og were by no means out of the game and they scored next three points to get back to within one. Marc Feehan won another great ball in midfield and found Paul O’Rourke who coolly slotted the ball over before Oisin O’Callaghan linked up with Micheál Brady and Brady tapped over to keep the Shane’s out in front. Eire Og replied with their eleventh point to keep them right in the game but late points from Paul O’Rourke and Oisin O’Callaghan saw the Shane’s over the line and record the all-important win.
The senior men return to action next Sunday away to Keady.
Senior Ladies
Our senior ladies will be training on Tuesday evening from 7.00pm – 8.30pm ahead of their next league game away to Lisummon next Saturday at 7.30pm.
Minor Boys
A brilliant game of football last Monday night between our minor boys’ amalgamation of Patrick Rankins and Granemore saw the Rankin’s side lose out by just two points, 7-11 to 7-9. Despite trailing for most of the first-half, 5 – 4 to 0 -3 at one stage, the lads put in a fantastic second-half performance but unfortunately, they came up just short. The lads are back in action on Monday evening at home to Wolfe Tones at 7.15pm
Minor Girls
Our minor girls will be training on Tuesday evening from 7.00pm – 8.30pm.
U16 Boys
Our U16 boys are training on Monday evening from 6.00pm – 7.00pm in Correnshigo before a game against Naomh Eoin on Thursday at 7.00pm in Correnshigo.
U16 Girls
Due the exam period there will be no U16 girls game for a couple of weeks.
U14 Boys
Our U14 boys’ amalgamation of Patrick Rankins have a game at home on Tuesday night against St Paul’s and all players our asked to meet at the club no later 6.10pm for a 7.00pm throw-in.
U14 Girls
Our U14 girls are scheduled to be away to Clan na Gael on Monday night.
U12 Boys
The U12 boys were in action on Saturday against Carrickcruppen with all the young lads getting some important game time. The Shane’s dominated the game throughout and recorded an impressive win.
U12 Girls
Our U12 girls were in action last Sunday evening Our U12 away to a strong amalgamated Silverbridge/Cullyhanna team. It was a close encounter throughout with some great football on display but unfortunately the young Shane's came up just short but did themselves proud throughout...well done everyone. The girls were back in action at home on Sunday evening against Killeavy but the result was unknown at the time of going to press. They will train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings this week before a game away to Mullaghbawn next Sunday.
U10s
On Wednesday evening, we split our U10 squad before they travelled to two different venues, one team heading to Whitecross and the other team to Belleek. Both teams put in great displays and every member of our squad got lots of vital playing team. There is another busy week ahead for the U10s coming up, with two games away to Corrinshego and Dorsey. Training continues on Friday from 6.00pm -7.00pm.
U10 Girls
Training for the U10 girls continues on Saturday mornings at 11.00am at the field.
Meabh O’Neill’s Camogie
The senior and camog minors will train on Monday and Wednesday this coming with the U8s, U12s and U14s training on Wednesday also. The camogie club would like to thank everyone who helped out with and contributed their bucket collection in Camlough on Sunday. Your help and generosity is greatly appreciated.
Best Wishes
Best wishes to our club and Cairde member Patsy McParland who is spending a short time in hospital. Best wishes also to Sheila Osborne who is recovering at home following a fall. Get well soon folks.
Lotto
Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 3, 11, 23 & 24. There was no jackpot winner and 2 x match three winners. The jackpot now stands at a very impressive £5,650.

Siúl at the Shane's
As most of you know we ran a very successful Pave the Way scheme last year which led to the installation of a brilliant concrete driveway in and around the club. To everyone who donated to that scheme we are extremely grateful and a sign will be erected shortly thanking you all. The next phase of development at the club has seen construction start on a Community Walkway around our main pitch. As with all development work it costs money and this is where you, our friends and members, can help out. Siúl at the Shane's is a scheme which people can donate to or sponsor a metre of concrete as we attempt to raise the necessary funds for the new walkway. The walkway itself will be available for use by the whole community and will give people the opportunity to walk in a safe and friendly environment all year round.
