Senior Ladies

Sunday morning saw our senior ladies take on a very good Burren side in a challenge game. Despite missing a number of key players the Shanes played some decent football and sides went in at half-time all square. The second-half continued to be a closely fought affair and at the final whistle it was Burren who claimed the win by a single point. Moya Feehan continued her return from injury with a second-half substitute appearance whilst Katy Daly and Aoife McCoy both made their Shanes debuts following their move from Dromintee. The club would like to thank Burren for travelling up for the game and Owen Reel for officiating.

Well Done

Well done to our own Gregory McCabe who captained the Armagh U21s to a very convincing win over Down last Wednesday night. Well done also to all our ladies footballers who part of our local schools successes in the NI Netball tournament – Brianna Mathers, Ciara Jones, Lia Robb, Jade Beattie and Jessica Watters.

Hard Luck

It was disappointment for St Pauls in the Macrory Cup Final last Thursday, losing out to a good St Pats Maghera.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our senior footballer Paddy Doran who got engaged to Sinead Murphy at the week-end.

Mind the Times – A Night of Nostalgia

The club is hosting a Night of Nostalgia this Saturday night, 26th March. The night is open to all but a particular welcome is extended to all past and current players and members. There is no cover charge on the night and everyone is invited to come along and listen to and tell tales from days gone by - the time when Tags scored a goal and a point from a 50, when Marty Rocket took off soloing and scored a point for the opposition, when Tommy Mooney scored four from the floor. It promises to be a great night’s craic.

Ladies Fundraising Draw

Due to the ongoing construction work around the club and the inaccessible for vehicles the event and Beyoncé ticket raffle planned for the club on Saturday night was postponed until Saturday 30th April (the May Bank Holiday weekend). Further information on the Bank Holiday weekend event will be published over the coming weeks but it is planned to hold a 70’s, 80’s & 90’s night with prizes for the best dressed male and female. The club would to thank all those who helped to man the ticket selling facility in The Quays on Friday and Saturday and to the The Quays management for the hospitability.

Bar Meeting

A meeting for all bar staff will take place on Monday, 21st March at 8.30pm in the club. Anyone who is interested in doing a few hours behind the bar is contact to contact Paul O’Neill on 07525032823 or 00353874100480.

Lotto

Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 9, 13, 19 & 26. There were no jackpot winners and 3 x match three winners. The next jackpot now stands at £2750.

Pave the Way

Work has finally started on our Pave the Way scheme and is progressing well. We are encouraging those who haven't yet donated their £50 to get on board and buy a metre of concrete. It is not too late to get involved and contribute to the scheme and get rid of those dreaded potholes once and for all. With work on-going on our Pave the Way scheme no vehicular traffic will be allowed onto the club grounds for at least two weeks. All training sessions, games, meetings etc can go ahead as planned but we would ask that you park elsewhere and make your way to the grounds on foot. Please be careful if you are crossing the main road on your way to and from the club.

Happy Easter

There will be no club notes next week so the club would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members, families and friends a very Happy Easter.
