Senior Ladies

Forkhill were the visitors to Camlough last Monday night to take on our senior ladies and it was the Shane’s who ran out winners by five points, 3 – 9 to 2- 7.

The sides swapped points in the opening minutes with Aoibheann Jones on target for the Shane’s and it was the same player who netted the first goal of the game minutes later. Forkhill replied with their second point before Abbie Shields popped over another Shane’s point with Aoibheann Jones hitting the net soon after to gave her side a six-point advantage. Forkhill reduced the deficit to four with two well taken points before Abbie Shields rifled the ball to the net to put the Shane’s well in control but Forkhill got the last two points of the half to trail by five at the break, 3 – 2 to 0 – 6.

Forkhill got off to the best possible start in the second-half with a goal in the opening minutes to leave just two between the sides. This score spurred the Shane’s to lift their game and they scored five points in a row to put them back in control, the scores coming from Aoibheann Jones (2) and Hayley Mackin, Abbie Shields and Moya Feehan getting one apiece. Forkhill replied with their seventh point of the contest but the Shane’s hit the next two points with the very impressive Abbie Shields and Aoibheann Jones getting the scores to give the home side an eight lead. However, Forkhill hit a late goal but it wasn’t enough as the Shane’s ran out winners on a score-line of 3 – 9 to 2 – 7.

Senior Men

Our senior men were scheduled to play Middletown in the league on Saturday evening but the game was postponed until a later date.

U14 Boys

Our U14 boy’s amalgamation of Patrick Rankins were in action on Sunday morning away to Tullysaran in a rearranged fixture. The lads were quick to settle into the game and they built up a decent early lead courtesy of some good first-time football. The game became a little bit scrappy after that but the young Rankins turned around with a decent half-time lead. The lads were quick out off the blocks during the opening of the second-half and during that period they were able to pull away and all but seal the win. They continued to play some brilliant football throughout the second period which saw the full complement of subs being used, with a lot of players getting some playing time. Next up for the lads is another away game against Tir na nÓg on Tuesday evening.

U14 Girls

Our U14 girls put in great performance last Monday to defeat Granemore in the championship quarter-final. It was nip and tuck during the opening half but the Shane’s girls upped their performance significantly in the second-half to runout convincing winners. This result saw them progress to the championship semi-final and they play Dromintee in Dromintee on Monday evening at 6.30pm.

U12 Boys

Our U12 boys put in a very competitive performance away to Silverbridge last Thursday evening. The Shane’s lads were excellent throughout but unfortunately were beaten by a few scores in the end.

U12 Girls

Our U12 girls travelled to Lurgan on Thursday evening to take on Clan na Gael and they put on a brilliant performance to claim a well-deserved win. They return to action on Thursday evening at home to Cullyhanna at 7.30pm.
