Our very own SGR Lillian O' Hanlon and Newry City Runners Patricia Brown did the area proud at the 2nd year of the Irish Runner 10 Miler that took place in the Phoenix Park in Dublin on Saturday. Indeed both ladies not only ran great times but came away with both getting second placed finishes in each of their age categories, this shows the high level of running we have in our district that two runners go to Dublin in a very large field of runners from all over Ireland and finish so strong.
Well done to them both who shared a great memory with a photo at the end, Lillian finished in a great time of 01:14:59 and Patricia from NCR in 01:09:29 .
CATHERINE TRIUMPHS AT CONEY ISLAND
SGR Catherine Brito took on the Coney Island Half Marathon in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday along the World famous boardwalk on a very hot morning. Catherine finished in a great time of 2:04:38 and great to see the Slieve Gullion Runners vest at such a great event in America. Well done Catherine from everyone at #teamSGR
SGR TEAM TAKE ON THE DENIS RANKIN ROUND
The Denis Rankin Round is a long distance hill running challenge around the Mourne Mountains ,The route is a circuit of over 90 kilometres, with a total climb of over 6,500 metres. The Round must be completed within 24 hours to be considered a success. The Round is named after Denis Rankin, a pioneer and leading light in fell running and mountain marathons in Northern Ireland since the 1970’s, who tragically died on 16th May 2013 competing in a fell race on Slievemoughanmore. A team involving three SGR headed to the Mournes for this challenge on Friday with Barry McCarroll , Martin Campbell running and Robbie Marsh supporting the whole team on route for 24 hours with food etc .A great team effort by everyone well done to them all .Seán Nickell, Barry Mc Carroll, Keith Clarke ,Mark Weir , Martin Campbell and Robbie Marsh.
SGR BROTHERS RUN AT ARMAGH SUMMER HALF MARATHON
SGR brothers Kevin and Ciaran McSherry ran at the Run Armagh Summer Marathon / Half Marathon / 10K, both men took part in the Half Marathon race on Saturday in Armagh City in a great event by Run Armagh. Kevin finished in a great time of 2hr 2m as did Ciaran with 2hr 10mins. Well done to them both.

TEAM MUCKIAN IN LONGFORD
Two Provinces Triathlon, Longford was a family event for TeamMuckian this weekend with Brian, James, Josh and Freya competing and Jacqueline and little sister Rúna as top supporters. Freya and Josh competed on Day 1. Josh was in fine form and stormed to a brilliant AG win and superstar Freya crossed the finish line in style - her first solo Kidathon with her trademark smile firmly in place!!!
Day 2 was dad Brian and big brother James’ turn with James recording an impressive 24:48 5k time, but bragging rights went to Brian this weekend, with a 20:10 5k time to finish the race in 1:09. Well done to you all from everyone at #teamSGR
