It could scarcely have been a better day for the massive crowd that turned up at Newry Show today. It was wonderful to see the show back after a three year gap and it certaintly felt like it was bigger and better than ever.
Weather in the mid 20's is exactly what is needed for a local outdoor event and cold drinks and ice cream were the order of the day. There was no shortage of things to do. The serious farming crowd got a chance to see top class cattle, sheep, pigs and goats and even pigmy goats as they paraded around the showring trying to catch the judges eye. For others just sitting on the grass listening to the Two Step band was just heaven and of course you could get up and dance if you had the energy!
The Home Industries and Horticulture tent saw some stunning floral displays and it was refreshing to see no shortage of top baking skills. The Kidz Farm never stopped all day and of course the dog show was fiercly competitive as usual. Showjumping was back too. Overall an incredible day out for all the family and boy did the children there enjoy it.
Credit must go to all the show committee for putting on a brilliant day, especially as it was also a new venue. Well done all.
