Up to 60 employers are set to attend the Newry, Mourne and Down Job Fair at the Canal Court Hotel on Wednesday, 3 June. The free event is open to anyone looking for work, exploring training options or considering a change in career direction.
The event is being hosted by Newry, Mourne and Down Labour Market Partnership in collaboration with Cross Border Partnership Employment Services. Labour Market Partnerships are funded by the Department for Communities and work to create targeted employment action plans for council areas, supporting people towards and into work at both local and regional level.
Roles on offer on the day will span a wide range of sectors including healthcare, construction, administration, retail, hospitality and logistics, with opportunities suited to varying levels of experience. Full-time, part-time and flexible working arrangements will all be represented. Visitors are encouraged to attend with copies of their CV and be ready to speak directly with recruiters about available positions and career pathways.
To make the event as accessible as possible, a quiet period will be held before the main event gets underway at 10.30am, with reduced noise and softer lighting to create a more relaxed atmosphere for those who find busier environments difficult. A quiet room will also be available throughout the day for anyone who needs a break.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Philip Campbell said: "The Job Fair is always a standout event in our calendar, bringing real energy and opportunity together under one roof. It is a fantastic chance for people to step forward, have meaningful conversations with employers and discover opportunities they may not have considered before."
Cllr Campbell added: "Whether you are taking your first steps into the world of work, looking for a fresh challenge or returning to the labour market after some time away, this event is designed to inspire confidence and open doors. NMD Labour Market Partnership are especially proud to continue enhancing the experience so that everyone feels welcome, supported and ready to make the most of what is on offer at the Job Fair."
Alongside the employers, a number of support organisations will also be present on the day, including the NI Careers Service, Clanrye Group and local Further Education Colleges, offering practical advice on CV writing, interview preparation and training pathways.
