Council Artisan Markets running from March to December

The Council is encouraging residents and visitors to support local makers and producers at its popular Artisan Markets, which run over three locations from March to December. The markets, held in Warrenpoint, Downpatrick and Newcastle, celebrate the food and craft heritage of the district while providing a platform for local traders to reach new customers.

This year's markets feature a refreshed line-up, with new traders joining alongside returning favourites. The Council has also said it will spotlight individual traders over the coming months, sharing their stories and the skills behind their products.

Council Chairperson, Councillor Philip Campbell said: "Our Artisan Markets are a fantastic showcase of the creativity and talent that exists across our district. They provide a valuable platform for local makers and producers to sell their goods, while also encouraging residents and visitors to support small businesses and shop local."

Cllr Campbell continued: "The introduction of new traders alongside returning favourites, ensures a vibrant and ever-changing experience and we look forward to shining a spotlight on these businesses in the months ahead."

Each of the three markets has its own distinct setting. In Newcastle, the market takes place on the first Saturday of each month and is moving to a new location at the event space to the rear of the Newcastle Centre, just a short distance from the promenade. In Downpatrick, traders set up on the third Saturday of each month in St Patrick's Square in the heart of the town. In Warrenpoint, the market is held on the fourth Saturday of each month in Warrenpoint Municipal Park, offering a relaxed setting with coastal views.

All three locations will have live music and family-friendly activities throughout the season. Markets generally trade from 11am to 3pm, with hours extended to 4pm during peak seasonal periods.
