Write a commentSouthern Area Hospice Services held a Volunteer thank you party on Friday and the event was boosted by the presentation of an Investing in Volunteers award which recognises the excellent work they do in involving and supporting volunteers.
Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for all organisations involving volunteers. Investing in Volunteers aims to improve the quality of the volunteering experience for all volunteers and demonstrates that organisations value the enormous contribution made by their volunteers. The Award demonstrates a model of good practice in volunteer management and will enable Southern Area Hospice to advise and support their staff and volunteers on matters of good practice.
Presenting the award, Director of Volunteer Now, Sandra Adair said “Investing in Volunteers recognizes the huge contribution of Hospice volunteers. I believe volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization and critical to the services provided and I commend Southern Area Hospice Services”.
Investing in Volunteers is unique in that it is the only standard that focuses on volunteers and is based on four areas of volunteer management; planning for volunteer involvement, recruiting volunteers, selecting and matching volunteers and supporting and retaining volunteers.
Speaking on behalf of the Hospice, Rosie Teggarty Volunteer Co-Coordinator commented “We are honored to receive this award. Our volunteers contribute massively to the services we deliver as an organisation and I am always humbled by the actions of our volunteers. Their personal time, dedication and commitment to the Hospice is commendable and we are delighted to be receiving this award”.
