Camlough native Malachy Mc Creesh has won a seat on the newly merged Limerick City & County Council.
The Sinn Féin candidate was elected for the area of Limerick City West. Malachy,a brother of 1981 Hunger Striker Raymond, will be one of six Sinn Féin elected representatives now sitting on Limerick City & County Council.
Malachys late father James McCreesh was elected as a member of Newry and Mourne District Council in 1981 during the H-Block campaign for recognition and dignity for Republican political prisoners.

Recently his brother Patsy tragically died after sustaining injuries in a car crash near his home in Meigh.
Congratulating Malachy on his success Newry and Armagh MP Conor Murphy stated "Malachys election for Limerick West is a result of the continuing growth of support for Sinn Féin in throughout the 26 Counties, and a memorable personal achievement for Malachy who has lived in the area with his wife and family for many years. There is a great regard and respect for the Mc Creesh family and the news of Malachys election was warmly welcomed locally"
