Write a commentNewry City Sinn Féin Councillor Liz Kimmins has welcomed the commitment of stakeholders to complete work at the Chancellors Hall development.
Cllr Kimmins has been involved in a number of meetings with residents from Chancellors Hall and builders. The development has been left unfinished for some time but now it is hoped that the residents’ concerns will be dealt with promptly.
Speaking about the news Cllr Kimmins said“I have been working with residents from Chancellors Hall over the past few months who had raised serious concerns around the unfinished roads and footpaths in this housing development. Over the past 8 years they have been waiting for the infrastructure to be completed by the developers but until recently had no success. Residents were extremely angry as they felt it not only gave a poor image of the area, and degraded their beautiful homes, but also posed a serious health and safety concern for pedestrians and motorists coming through the development.
Cllr Kimmins continued “I have been in contact with Roads Service and the developers, the O'Hagan group, to try and resolve this problem over the past 6 months, and have made clear the residents' views and highlighted their responsibility to finish this work. I am very pleased to confirm the O'Hagan group have now given a commitment to residents to complete this work, and will be onsite in the first week in November. I have informed residents of the response from the O'Hagan group and they are delighted with this progress, especially given the timescale in which they have endured. The O'Hagan Group have also agreed to meet with myself and residents later in the month to monitor progress of the work and to give residents the opportunity to raise any further issues they may have which can be addressed once work is completed. This is a very positive outcome for the people living in this development and we look forward to seeing the end result.”
