Newry and Armagh MLA Liz Kimmins has welcomed the delivery of a speed indicator device on the Forkhill Road in Cloughogue.
The Newry and Armagh MLA said “Sinn Féin have been campaigning for upgraded road safety measures in Cloughogue for many years and this is a great step in improving road safety in the village.
“Cloughogue is a village with a growing population, many young families and couples are moving into the area and making it their home so it’s important that we have the best possible road safety measures in place.
“This road in particular is very busy, with a number of local businesses, the recently upgraded playpark and the GAA club and the high volume of traffic on the main road, it can be very difficult to cross the road safely.
“Sinn Féin presented DFI with a petition a number of years ago, strongly supported by the community calling for traffic calming measures and a pedestrian crossing on the Forkhill road, the delivery of this speed indicator is a great step in improving road safety here and we’re committed to continuing to work to improve road safety for all in Newry and South Armagh.”
