Work is at long last progressing on the site of the former Ogle House on Canal Street in Newry with contractors moving on to the site in the past week. The development applied for in the name of South Ulster Housing Association now Arbour Housing proposes to build 9 apartments, 8 two bedroom and 1 one bedroom.

Planning Permission was applied for back in October 2019 and granted in May 2020. Since then the original building was demolished and site cleared. The proposed new frontage will look very similar to what was removed and should help restore the landscape of the Canal Street area. It is expected that construction will take a year.
All residential units within the development will be for social housing. It is one of several projects ongoing in the Canal Street, Merchants Quay area of the city.
