Write a commentHot on the heels of tall ship Irene docking in Warrenpoint and at the Albert Basin last weekend the very first ocean going cruise liner will berth in Warrenpoint on Sunday the 20th of July!
Newry and Mourne District Council, Warrenpoint Harbour Authority and Point Shipping Services have been working very hard to promote the port of Warrenpoint as a new destination for cruise ships.
The Saga Pearl II has confirmed their ship will arrive in Warrenpoint Port on Sunday the 20th July at 08:00 hours and will depart at 17:00 hours. The cruise departs Dover on 7th July, has a total of 8 stops and then a three day sailing from Iceland to Warrenpoint. On board will be 450-500 passengers who will spend the day enjoying the sights of Warrenpoint and further afield.
The Tourism Department of Newry and Mourne District Council with the help of the Warrenpoint Burren Rostrevor Chamber, is going all out to ensure that Warrenpoint will be looking its best and will provide a colourful welcome for the ship. A full day’s programme of entertainment is being organised for both the passengers and the many hundreds of visitors who are expected in Warrenpoint to participate in this historic occasion.
Two lucky people will have the opportunity to go on board as guests of the Captain for a tour of the ship. To win this fantastic prize go to Cruise Warrenpoint Facebook Page, like the page, and keep up to date with any information being posted. The competition will run from the Monday 16th June to Sunday 6th July, and the winner will be informed shortly thereafter.
Further information regarding the programme of activities will be available in the coming weeks.
