SDLP Newry councillor Kevin McAteer has praised the emergency services during last weeks flooding in the City.
The Councillor said "The local emergency services have been fantastic in responding quickly to help those affected by the recent floods and ensuring that no-one has been seriously injured as a result."
Councillor McAteer spoke after many roads such as Bridge Street and Ballyholland Road to name but a few were closed due to major flooding.
Urging the local community to exercise caution when encountering flooding over the winter, SDLP Councillor Kevin McAteer said “Can I ask those who encounter any flooding to be careful and if they can please report it and it will be dealt with as soon as possible. I myself spent my time on Thursday taking many calls from concerned residents in Newry and reporting many floods that where responded to very quickly by the emergency services and also the roads service and i would like to thank them for that."
