Write a commentThe 23rd Annual Southern Area Hospice Towpath Walk takes place this year on Sunday the 27th of April.
It is organised by dedicated Southern Area Hospice Services’ volunteer, Deborah Kennedy.
In the 23 years the event has been running it has grown from strength to strength and with your continued support has helped raise over £275,000 for your local Hospice.
UTV Weatherman Frank Mitchell was on hand this year to help launch the Annual Towpath Walk. Frank said, “I’m delighted to see the Towpath Walk in its 23rd year. Deborah and her team put a lot of work into this event every year and have raised a fabulous amount of money over the past 22 years. It’s an event that people of all ages can participate in so I really would encourage families and groups of friends to come out this year and support this event. I’m predicting a sunny day too so you’ve no reason not to join in for a fun day out!”
This year’s walk will take place on Sunday 27th April 2014, leaving from the Cue Club, Newry at 3pm and continuing along the towpath to Steenson’s Bridge and back to Newry. A light buffet will be served for all walkers afterwards in Newry Hockey Club on the Belfast Road. The walk is a 6k challenge; with car lifts available on the day to return walkers to the Hockey Club.
