The warm side of the stone is certainly showing signs of turning and this years St Patrick's Day in Newry has a host of events and activities organised by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. There's something for everyone and virtually all are free (2 Museum events £1.50/£3)

Parade

The annual Newry St Patrick's Day Parade sets out at 12pm.

The Parade departs from the Quays Shopping and Leisure Centre (Albert Basin) to Buttercrane Quay, Merchants Quay, Sugar Island into Kildare Street.  Pedestrian’s dispersal into Hill Street, vehicular floats dispersal along the Mall.

*Abundance of free children’s entertainment along the Hill Street area including: St. Patrick’s Day Photo Booth, Face Painting, Cartoon Characters, train rides, amusement rides and vortex tunnel.  

*Not forgetting a range of on-street trading and charity stalls.

Artist Anna Savage will help prepare your ‘Little Beasties’ masks to wear at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

With two-thirds of Louth contemporary folk band Kern expect thunderous sets of traditional tunes vying with lyrical, atmospheric songs and if you are lucky, a bowl of stew as well.
