Write a commentThe Albert Basin Park Action Group continue their campaign for a 15 acre public park in Newry and they are asking for as many people as possible to get involved by posting selfies of yourself on your Facebook page while holding a message of support.

You can also post it to the Albert Basin Park Facebook page www.facebook.com/AlbertBasinPark or email it to them at info@newry2020.com and they will put it up.
The group have been campaigning with community organisations, schools, medical professionals, businesses and individuals throughout the city. Over 50 community groups, most local schools and medical practices have already endorsed the campaign. A petition accessible at www.albertbasinpark.org has been signed by nearly 4000 people and many people have signed paper copies. If you haven’t already signed, please do.
The site of the proposed park at the Albert Basin in Newry has been derelict for many years but concerns are increasing that the most likely option for the publicly owned site will be for the council to sell it off for a mixed use development, eliminating the only chance of a proper public park for Newry city for many generations to come.
