A new four-week course aimed at improving environmental awareness and sustainable living is being launched at Omeath District Family Resource Centre. The Skills Connect: Green Economy Academy 2026 is specifically tailored for people with additional needs, such as physical disability, brain injury and autism.
Participants will take part in the "Caring for Our World" training programme, which explores how people can better protect the natural environment and live more sustainably, including calculating and reducing their individual carbon footprint. The course starts on 10 September 2026 at the Dolmen Centre, Omeath.
Skills Connect provides person-centred support to empower individuals with disability, autism or brain injury, aiming to overcome barriers to employment through skills-based training, the attainment of accredited vocational qualifications, and the development of meaningful career pathways.
The project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body, and is delivered by Cedar in partnership with the NOW Group, OCN NI, Ulster University and Dundalk Institute of Technology.
