This is traditionally the quiet season for Newry Branch Gaelic League. But the popularity of the Cúpla Focal introductory programme, combined with the Gaeilge do Chách (Irish for All) self-tuition resources started this week by Newry.ie, has seen 18 new learners in the Gaeláras last Monday night, 10 learners starting a short course in Cluain Dáimh tonight, and 20 Ár dTeanga: Do Rogha Fáinne booklets going to Baile Mhic Cullach.
The Clonduff CLG online report is very positive "Ten adult students appeared for the first class in Clonduff Club on Thursday evening and everyone of them left after an hour totally enthused. Although some are not total beginners, the tutor gave it a whole new perspective."
About 200 Fáinne booklets remain of a record 3000 printed and these can be dispatched as free publications (though recipients should ideally refund postage cost, as seen on packet).
