West Belfast Irish teacher Gearóid Ó Lachlainn was in The Bookshelf in Newry on Saturday, 28 February with his Irish Language book Tóg go Bog É ag Foghlaim (Take it easy and learn).
The colourful book aims to make it easy for anyone to learn a little cupla focal with its simply structured conversational Irish. It's beautifully illustrated by Aoife Devlin who also called in to the bookshop. There was also a chance to get your face painted on the day as well.
The Bookshelf has embarked on a series of events to encourage people to get reading again. This Thursday 5 March is World Book Day and at 4pm they are hosting a Children's storytelling event and inviting everyone to come in costume with a prize for the best dressed.
On Friday 27 March from 7-10pm The Bookshelf is hosting three women crime writers. Entitled 'Crime Queens in Conversation' and Cara Finegan, Kelly Creighton and Sharon Dempsey will be there reading from their latest books.
