Write a commentRenovation work is continuing at St Teresa's Church in Tullyherron with extensive works being carried out inside and out thanks to a grant of £202,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund supplemented by fundraising instigated by Parish Priest Fr Malachy Murphy, parishioners and supporters. The chapel has been closed for some time to facilitate the work. Windows have been removed and re-slating work continues on the roof.
St Teresa's dates to 1813 and proposed work includes re-slating the roof, re-rendering the external walls and refurbishing/ replacing existing windows. Inside plans involve renewing internal plaster work, replacing existing ceiling with a suspended ceiling, refurbishing the staircase as well as work to the sanctuary and entrances.
Works were last carried out on the chapel in 1990. It's one of four chapels in the parish along with St Malachy's, Ballymoyer, St Laurence O'Toole's, Belleeks and St Brigid's, Carrickananney.
