Write a commentNewry man John Fearon has just embarked on a ten day trek in the Himalayas in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
John Fearon has pledged to raise a minimum of £3,700 to tackle the demanding trek in the Himalayas.
The trek takes John on the experience of a lifetime, trekking through the Annapurna region in Nepal. He is looking for sponsorship for his challenge which will raise much needed funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care a charity that provides high quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses the choice of dying at home, supported by their families.
Fifty seven year old John has trained hard before the Trek and would like as many people as possible to support him, every step of the way.
Commenting on the trip John said "This trek will be a real challenge for me with long days trekking steep slopes but I am looking forward to pushing myself to achieve this with a team of people committed to helping raise funds for the vital service provided by Marie Curie Cancer Care. I witnessed the special care Marie Curie nurses provide when my mother passed away on St Patrick`s Day last year after a long illness. The nurses provided so much comfort and dignity to my mother in her final days and their support is vital to people with terminal illnesses "
