Write a commentThe "You're Fired" catchphrase was most certainly not needed at the weekend with Newry Junior Chamber members excelling in their Apprentice Style Hospice Shops take over on Saturday, taking over all three Southern Area Hospice Shops in Newry, Rathfriland and Banbridge in an effort to raise the most amount of money.
Each shop was led by a captain and team members from the Newry Junior Chamber who volunteered their time to help our local Hospice with the team who raised the most amount of money to be crowned winner. The three teams headed up by Darren McKinney from Netwatch Systems who took over the Banbridge Shop, Trish Heaney from I Am Social Media who managed the Newry Shop and Ryan Sheppard from Clanrye Lighting in the Rathfriland Shop.
All three teams completed fundraising events in the build up to the shop takeover and had some fantastic items on sale on Saturday. The Banbridge shop had a special volunteer in the form of Lord Mayor Garath Keating who helped out for a couple of hours. The Rathfriland shop got a treat when Santa Clause came to visit the store and Newry Shop welcomed many local businesses for a coffee morning.
Majella Gollogly, Fundraising Manager at Southern Area Hospice Services said “We are very thankful to the Newry Junior Chamber members for all their hard work and time spent on this challenge. The atmosphere in each shop on the day was brilliant and they have raised a fantastic amount of money for our Hospice. As the end of the year draws near, we are doing everything we can in order to reach our target of £2.42 million and with the help and support of the Newry Junior Chamber this will help us greatly”.
