A charity walk in support of those affected by road traffic collisions will take place in Newry next month. The Road Ahead NI will hold its inaugural Walk for Safer Futures on Sunday 30 August, marking National Road Victim Month while raising funds for the organisation's support services.
The walk will begin at Newry City Football Club at 11am, taking in a route to the Greenbank roundabout, past the Centra garage and along Kilmory Street before continuing onto River Street and briefly onto William Street. Participants will then head onto the greenway, where a set turning point has been arranged, before returning to Newry City for refreshments.
The event is intended to recognise the impact of road traffic collisions on those who have lost loved ones or been left with life changing injuries, as well as those who continue to live with the emotional effects of a crash even where no one was killed or seriously injured. Organisers say the walk is open to anyone who has been personally affected or who wishes to show support, with all funds raised going towards helping The Road Ahead NI provide support to people affected by road traffic collisions.
