Write a commentFollowing yesterday's incident at Victoria Lock on Newry Canal where a van entered the water around lunch time, it has been confirmed that a man has lost his life.
The man was taken from the water by emergency personnel and rushed to Daisy Hill Hospital but tragically he passed away.
Emergency services had spent all afternoon at the scene and recovered the submerged van early yesterday evening.
Commenting on the news Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady said the incident at The Victoria Lock in Newry had deeply saddened all. "This news has deeply saddened all. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased in this terrible time"
