Write a commentNext Wednesday the 1st April represents a landmark day for every single person living in our District when Newry & Mourne District Council and Down District Council merge to form the new Council known as Newry, Mourne & Down District Council.
Your new Council will serve some 171,500 residents, making it the third largest Council in Northern Ireland.
We will continue to be responsible for providing you with the services that you currently receive such as Household Waste Collection, Registration, Leisure, Environmental Health, Building Control, Economic Development and Tourism. However, we will also be responsible for delivering a range of new services, as well as powers, including Planning and Community Planning.
