PCSP promotes new Women’s Aid Helpline NumberThe Newry and Mourne Policing and Community Safety Partnership today launched an advertising campaign to promote the new 24 Hour Domestic & Sexual Violence Helpline for women and men. The new number is 0808 802 1414
Speaking at the launch PCSP Chair Cllr. Michael Carr said “Violence of any kind is unacceptable. The PCSP recognises this and in supporting the promotion of this helpline number supports the women and men who experience violence in the home to access services on a 24 hour basis”
The advertising campaign, carried on a number of adshels on bus shelters and telephone kiosks, will be visible throughout Newry and Mourne District and will run until 15th January 2014.
Eileen Murphy, CEO of Women’s Aid Armagh & Down, said “while we welcome this campaign to keep people safe it is important to remember that the person who perpetrates the violence is to blame and not the victim”
Newry and Mourne District Council Mayor, Cllr Michael Ruane also attended and urged those experiencing violence in the home to seek support through one of the helpline avenues available, freephone, text or email.
