The car park at the road entrance to Newry Bus Station will be closed until further notice due to a sizeable section of the Clanrye River wall collapsing into the water over the weekend. A contractor removed rubble from the scene on Tuesday and the area has been fenced off to prevent access.
Known as Canal Bank 3 car park the area provided free parking for approximately 12 vehicles. Just a few hundred metres away on the opposite side of the river, the canal bank was damaged back in October 2023 during extensive flooding. To date it hasn't been repaired.
