Martin Donaghy, the present Mayor of Bolton who hails from Besbrook will bring a party from his home city to a Service of Remembrance at 2pm next Sunday the 10th of August at the Paupers Graveyard, Camlough Road, Newry.

The party are on a four day visit to Newry and this event is just part of their varied itinerary when they’re here.
The event has been organised by the Newry Maritime Association who are tirelessly working to keep Newry in the spotlight, especially Newry Canal and the Albert Basin where several sculptures have already been unveiled celebrating the Newry Dock workers and Navvies.
Martin is a firm supporter of the area and was at the unveiling of the Newry Docker at the Albert Basin back in April.
The shared Service of Remembrance will remember with quiet pride all those on the margins that are buried anonymously in the Paupers Graveyard, from the Workhouse, victims of the Famine and Travellers and a tribute will be unveiled to them.
All are welcome so please take a little bit of time out next Sunday to give a thought to and celebrate the lives of those who who are interred there.
