A leading suicide prevention charity, P.I.P.S Newry and Mourne is set to benefit thanks to a new partnership with Autoline Insurance Group’s Newry branch who have chosen them as their charity for 2017.
As a result the Newry and Mourne charity is to be the focus of the fundraising efforts of staff at the independent insurance broker for the next year.
The fundraising venture will work to support the group which offers the community a targeted response to suicide and self-harm.
Caroline Currie, Autoline’s Sales Director, said “Our Newry branch has chosen to support P.I.P.S as our hero charity for 2017 as we feel this charity does amazing work and has touched the lives of so many people locally.
“With the incidence of suicide and self-harm increasing in recent years, we feel that P.I.P.S is an extremely worthwhile charity that offers support and hope to people who have been affected. We look forward to raising funds throughout the year to help P.I.P.S continue to play an integral part in the community”.
Eamon Murphy, P.I.P.S Fundraising Projects Officer commenting on the partnership said “We are delighted that Autoline have chosen PIPS Newry and Mourne to be their ‘Hero Charity for 2017’. It means a lot, that Autoline sees our charity as worthy of support.
“Suicide is of course, a major concern in our society today and has a devastating impact on families and communities where it occurs. But we believe suicide is not inevitable and that people can, and are helped and supported through difficult times.
“Reaching out for help is not easy, but with the support of high profile organisations such as Autoline, we are able to extend that message into areas where we may not have previously reached.
“As a local charity, we are obviously delighted to be associated with this partnership and look forward to working with and supporting the fundraising activities of the Autoline Newry Branch throughout this year.”
As part of the campaign Autoline staff will take part in the charities’ fundraising events this year.
Employees are also planning a series of charity Bake-Offs, coffee mornings and non-uniform days for staff to raise funds for the vital work of the organisation.
