Planning permission has been granted for four different businesses to re-construct their properties at Loughbrook Industrial Estate, Bessbrook following the total destruction of their units in a fire in 2023.
The premises were severely damaged in a major fire on 7 December 2023, with fire crews battling the blaze for over 16 hours.
Antique Style Reproductions Ltd, HMG Properties Ltd, Priority Truck Parts Ltd and AX Board all had their applications granted.
In the GrayDesign design and access statement for HMG Properties, which was similar to all the units, it explains that "The proposed units have been designed in such a way that they will mirror the existing units to the rear of the site and to look incredibly similar to the units that were previously in their place."
The statement explains that the site layout will incorporate the existing access and laneway "making the site very easily accessible and traversable."
It adds that "Each unit has been designed with fire safety in mind, with escape hallways and multiple entrance and exist [sic] points."
The replacement units will match the size and height of existing units on the site and the design and access statement explains that they have been designed in such a way "that will make them appear as if they have always been there, meaning they will not look out of place and will not have a negative effect on the landscape or area."
