Slieve Gullion Councillor Oonagh Magennis has said that the conditions on the Lissaraw Road and Ballinalack Lane are totally unacceptable and has advised motorists and pedestrians to take care when using these roads.

Cllr Magennis has requested the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) to address the problems on these stretches of roads “The Lissaraw Rd is in a particularly bad state with an uneven surface and potholes every couple of yards. This is a very busy stretch of road with 27 houses along the route between Camlough and Belleeks and with a Primary School at the Belleeks end of the road.

"I also visited Ballinaleck Lane and once again this is a very uneven narrow road with numerous potholes. The gullies at the sides of the road have more or less subsided in various parts and are frequently filling up with water”

Cllr Magennis  added “The patch up jobs that areas have been accustomed to over recent years will not suffice in these situations, this is why the same potholes are reopening again and again. They need repaired properly in order to stand the test of time and in turn this will minimise the cost for DfI in the long run”.
