Write a commentThis July marks thirty years of Fiddlers Green Festival at Rostrevor and recently the council hosted a civic reception for the organisers in the council boardroom.
The Fiddler’s Green Festival has come a long way since its establishment 30 years ago, having developed into a fantastic seven nights of music, culture and craic. The event has grown to become one of the premier festivals across Ireland, now attracting a diverse range of national and international visitors to the Newry, Mourne and Down District.
Commenting Councillor Mickey Ruane said, “The Council’s strategic objectives outlined the need to become a premier tourism destination on the Island of Ireland. It is festivals, such as Fiddler’s Green, that helps the Council in achieving this objective. Fiddlers Green has exceled in attracting some of the biggest names in the entertainment world to Rostrevor. It is a fantastic event that can make the Newry, Mourne and Down District proud.”
Cllr Ruane continued, “Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is delighted to be sponsoring such a wonderful festival and I would once again like to congratulate you all on your success to date. I wish you every success with this year’s programme and offer the Council’s continued support for your festival.”
This year the event runs from 24 - 31 July and the full programme of the event will be released shortly.
