Six brave women for local voluntary organisation Community Development and Health Network (CDHN) aim to become champions of “Operation Lipstick”, TinyLife’s first ladies only, 1 day adventure due to be held on Saturday 26th March 2011 n Castlewellan Forest Park. The event will raise funds for TinyLife, Northern Ireland’s Premature Baby Charity.
Every day in Northern Ireland 5 babies are born prematurely, some arrive a s early as 24 weeks and weigh as little as 1lb. TinyLife offers practical and emotional support to parents through Family Support programmes as well as breast pump loan schemes, education and research programmes.
The Operation Lipstick challenge day is a “GI Jane” style event for ladies of all ages and abilities. Tasks will include orienteering, climbing wall, raft building and racing.
As part of the CDHN team’s fundraising activities, a coffee morning was very kindly hosted by local restaurant “Art BarFunkel” with donations from other business including the Sunray Bakery.
CDHN Director Joanne Morgan commented: “Community Development and Health Network are really delighted to be able to put a team forward to take part in Operation Lipstick. The focus of our organisation is to tackle health inequalities using community development approaches, and we passionately believe in giving every child the best possible start in life. Tiny Life is a fantastic organisation providing literally life saving support to babies and their families and we are please to be able to support their work”
A huge word of thanks is extended to everyone who attended on the day and donated so generously, and especially to the owners and staff of Art BarFunkel for hosting the event.
