Last night Newry Musical Society held their first rehearsal for this year’s May production of “Hello, Dolly!” with a fantastic turn out, but there's still room for a few new faces - so what's stopping you!
This glamorous show, featuring such songs as “Put on Your Sunday Clothes” and “Ribbons Down My Back”, is an exciting challenge for Newry Musical Society who have enjoyed successes with their sell out production of The Sound of Music in 2012 and Guys and Dolls 2013.
Rehearsals for “Hello, Dolly!” continue tomorrow Wednesday 5th February 2014 at 7.30pm in the Bellagio Suite, Bellinis, Newry. Rehearsals will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings until the performances from 20th to 23rd May 2014 in Newry Town Hall. You must be 16 by 1st January 2014 to be a member of the society. Although you do not have to audition to be in the chorus, all members are encouraged to audition to give the production team a real challenge! Audition dates will be announced at the next rehearsal and are looking likely to be held in late February.
Newry Musical Society already has a solid membership of men and women of all ages and has enjoyed an influx of younger members in recent years. “Hello, Dolly!” will demand a large cast and is a lively show with many opportunities for principal parts, smaller roles and energetic dance numbers! There were many new faces last night but there is always room for more!
