Newry Arts Festival has concluded its busy 10-day run celebrating the best of the region’s contemporary art, music, comedy and workshops.

There was something for all ages and tastes, with a diverse programme featuring everything from kids and teens art classes and soap making workshops, to accessible music sessions and artist seminars.

Among the weekend’s closing events was the popular Street Feast – a celebration of food and music featuring local farmers, chefs, distillers, and breweries making world-class food and drink on our doorstep.Other highlights included the Art exhibition open all through the festival, the celebration of Newpoint Players, Zoe Conway and John McIntyre, Pumps and Brogues Concert, Jewellery Workshop, Rights of Nature screening, Newry Chamber Music Concert, Northern Ireland Screen archive and Samuel Beckett's Happy Days.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Michael Savage said, “It was wonderful to see a vibrant Newry City Centre with festivalgoers enjoying the best of the region’s talent on our doorstep. It was a privilege as Chairperson to meet several of the artists taking part in Newry Arts Festival. We are truly fortunate with the calibre of our artists and musicians in Newry, Mourne and Down. They are our ambassadors nationally and internationally and the past week and a half has been a wonderful opportunity to see them in action locally.

“Ahead of a brand new Theatre and Conference Centre planned for the City, it was also wonderful to celebrate the many artists who have contributed to Newry’s rich artistic life through the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre. Thank you to everyone who took part in the festival. There were a number of sell-out shows, so thank you too to our audiences who came out and gave their important and enthusiastic support to Newry Arts Festival.”
